C.16 JACKET, BLACK/JACKET, BLUE, KHAKI WINDBREAKER

  1. Description

    1. Black. A black jacket, 55/45% poly/wool with a stand-up knit collar and knit cuffs and bottom. Jacket is single-breasted with a zipper front closer, two inverted slant pockets, and shoulder loops.

    2. Blue Windbreaker, Khaki Windbreaker. A single-breasted, short style jacket, made of water repellent poly/cotton poplin cloth. It has a plain collar, two pockets located on side fronts, a zipper and a collar button closure.

  2. Correct Wear. Close zipper at least 3/4 of the way. Button collar button back when not in use. May be worn with liner. For insignia, see Appendix A of the Midshipman Regulations.

  3. Ownership Markings. Inside of the hem at the right on the center line on the back.

  4. Care and Cleaning. The coat should be dry-cleaned regularly and as it becomes soiled. If not dry-cleaning follow the directions on the manufacturers label.

C.17 NECKTIE, BLACK (Women)

  1. Description. Navy blue necktab made of authorized fabric.

  2. Correct Wear. The necktab's outer edges should be parallel to the outer edges of the collar. An equal amount of necktab should show on each side of the collar.

  3. Ownership Markings. Center back, inside.

  4. Care and Cleaning. Clean necktab in same manner as blue shirt of the same material.

C.18 NECKTIE, BLACK DRESS (Women)

  1. Description. A small, crescent shaped, black, velvet ribbon tapering to each edge from 1 inch width at center.

  2. Correct Wear. Wear under the collar with the front slightly above the top of the shirt.

  3. Care and Cleaning. Dryclean only. If drycleaning is not available, wash in COLD water using "Woolite" brand detergent, rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry.

C.19 NECKTIE, BOW, BLACK (Men)

  1. Description. Shall be plain style with square ends, not to exceed 2-1/4 inches in vertical width. May be clip-on or hand tied.

  2. Correct Wear. Bow tie should cover the top shirt button.

  3. Care and Cleaning. If necktie should become soiled, dryclean only.

C.20 NECKTIE, BLACK FOUR-IN-HAND (Men)

  1. Description. Made of authorized fabric measuring no more than 3-1/4 inches wide. May be clip-on or hand tied.

  2. Correct Wear. Wear hand tied knotted with either a four-in-hand, half windsor or windsor knot. Wear the top of the knot parallel to and slightly above the top of the shirt collar closure, hiding the shirt button. The bottom hangs within 1 inch of the top of the belt buckle. The tie does not cover the belt buckle.

  3. Ownership Markings. Center back, inside. Initials only.

  4. Care and Cleaning. Clean necktie in same manner as prescribed for blue shirt of same material.

C.21 SCARF, WHITE

  1. Description. Plain white scarf made of knitted or woven silk or synthetic fabric.

  2. Correct Wear. May be worn under all-weather coats/raincoats, overcoats, or jackets.

  3. Ownership Markings. Center back, inside.

  4. Care and Cleaning. Silk scarves should be drycleaned only. White scarves made of synthetic fabric may be washed with regular white clothes with a small amount of bleach. A warm iron should be used to remove wrinkles.

C.22 SHIRT, BLUE, WINTER

  1. Description. Made of plain navy blue authorized fabric, with long sleeves and two breast pockets with flaps fastened with 25-line black anchor buttons. Collar points measure no more than 3-1/4 inches and have a medium spread. Women's shirts button to the left and men's shirts button to the right.

  2. Correct Wear. Winter Blue button all buttons, tie/ribbons required. Winter Working Blue unbutton top collar button, tie/ribbons not worn. Shirt shall have military creases both in front and back. Front creases will be vertical and centered on the breast pockets. There will be three vertical creases in the rear, one centered in the middle of the back panel of the shirt, with the other two on either side and parallel to the center crease, halfway between the center crease and the side seam of the shirt. It is recommended that the creases be put in first by the individual, but if you are unsure use the drycleaners. BE CAREFUL NOT TO USE TOO HOT OF AN IRON. Overheating the material will result in melting of the synthetic fibers in the shirt producing shiny spots on the material. Placing a damp pillowcase or t-shirt between iron and shirt can help in avoiding damage to the shirt.

  3. Ownership Markings. Vertically, beginning 1 inch from the bottom on the inner side of the front fold on which the buttons are sewn.

  4. Care and Cleaning. Drycleaning is highly recommended. If drycleaning is not available, or desired, follow cleaning instructions on manufacturers tag.

C.23 SHIRT, KHAKI, SUMMER

    2. Women. Made of plain white authorized fabric, with short or long sleeves, two breast pockets with button flaps, and epaulets. Long sleeves have plain buttons. Collar points measure no more than 3-1/4 inches with a medium spread.

  2. Correct Wear. Button all buttons. Officers wear appropriate soft shoulder boards on the epaulets. Shirts should be pressed and may be starched, but SHOULD NOT HAVE MILITARY CREASES.

    2. Women. Plain black or white dress pumps made of smooth leather or synthetic leather, with closed heels and toes. Heels shall be no higher than approximately 2-5/8 inches nor less than approximately 5/8 inch measured from the forward edge, and no wider than approximately 1-3/4 inches at the base. Sole shall be no thicker than approximately 1/4 inch. Wedge heels are not authorized.

  2. Correct Wear. Keep well shined and in good repair. Men lace shoes from inside out through all eyelets and tie.

  3. Ownership Markings. Initials only inside, near the top.

  4. Care and Cleaning. Shoes shall always be clean and polished. Particular attention should be paid to edge dressing and cleaning dust and dirt from the welts of the shoes.

C.28 SHOES, FORMAL, BLACK (Women)

  1. Description. Plain black pumps with closed heels and toes, of suede, silk or peau de soie meeting the same heel requirements as the black dress pumps.

C.30 SHOES, SERVICE (BLACK/BROWN/WHITE) (Women)

  1. Description. Plain or moccasin stitch toed, oxford style black, brown, or white, low quarter, lace shoe, made of smooth leather or synthetic leather. The heel shall be an outside heel 5/8 inch - 1 inch high, and the sole shall be 3/16 inch - 3/8 inch thick. Wedge heels are not authorized.

  2. Correct Wear. Keep well shined and in good repair. Lace shoes from inside out through all eyelets and tie.

  3. Care and Cleaning. Shoes shall always be clean and polished. Particular attention should be paid to edge dressing and cleaning dust and dirt from the welts of the shoes.
