1301. TRAVEL AND RESIDENCE ABROAD. Scholarship students must comply with certain regulations published by the Chief of Naval Personnel if they travel or reside in a foreign country in excess of 30 days. Any scholarship student anticipating such travel or residence should ascertain the nature of these requirements from the Administrative Office. College program students are not affected by these regulations. No student will wear his midshipman uniform while visiting a foreign country unless participating in a training activity.

1302. EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES. The NROTC Unit provides a full program of extra curricular activities. The range of activities is sufficient to provide an area of interest for every student and all are strongly encouraged to participate in at least one. New activities may be instituted at any time if there is sufficient interest. Activities can be partially financed by university funds and money earned from university jobs contracted by the battalion.

1303. POSTGRADUATE STUDY

  1. In this era of increasing technology, the need for continuing study beyond the bachelor level assumes greater importance now than ever before in our history. There are many avenues open to qualified Navy and Marine Corps officers to pursue selected fields of study as active duty commissioned officers. A complete and current listing of postgraduate opportunities is maintained in the Administrative Office. Students are encouraged to acquaint themselves with these programs.

  2. Midshipmen may apply to CNET for a Leave of Absence (LOA) in order to pursue graduate study in some fields. Students are referred to the Administrative Office for further information.

1304. ALIEN PARTICIPATION IN THE NROTC. Certain nonimmigrant and immigrant aliens are eligible for enrollment in the NROTC Program. This eligibility pertains only to participation in the fouryear college program. Alien students are excluded from the scholarship program. For further policy regarding appointment, eligibility, entitlements, restrictions, security clearances, summer training, and report requirements, contact the Administrative Office.
