Life as a Buckeye

If school spirit is important to you, you couldn’t pick a better place than Ohio State, where students are full of Buckeye Pride! From Script Ohio to O-H-I-O chants, Ohio State and tradition go hand in hand.

In the Heart of it All

Columbus is centrally located just about two hours away from anywhere in the state. It’s within a few hours of all major Midwestern and Atlantic coast cities. It is far enough away to get that true college experience yet close enough for a weekend at home.

There is also Big Ten powerhouse Buckeye Football. Nothing in the world is like Ohio State Football in “The Shoe.” You can feel the football fever in the air as the entire campus gleams with scarlet and gray. Over 100,000 fans pack Ohio Stadium to watch the Buckeyes. At football games, the ROTC programs collectively have the honor of raising the flag up the 150-foot flag pole. The flag raising detail also gets to attend the rest of the game and enjoy some of the best seats in The Shoe.

The NROTC program at Ohio State is committed to you – to offering opportunities and opening doors for our students. There is no limit to what you can accomplish here.

Why Ohio State NROTC?

Ohio State students and those in the NROTC have unique opportunities to enhance their college experience:

– The Midshipmen are encouraged to participate in organized athletic events. The NROTC Company has fielded intramural soccer, hockey, football, softball, and basketball teams.

– Midshipmen participate in National Drill Competitions against other NROTC Units all over the country

– The Ohio State University NROTC program is fortunate enough to have a state of the art ship simulator named the USS CARMEN DDGS 71.

-Marine Option Midshipmen are outfitted with the same gear and equipment they will use at OCS, TBS, and in the operating forces.

-Midshipmen enjoy both indoor and outdoor private ROTC fitness facilities and have access to an Ohio State Athletic Trainer during unit Physical Training.
