Gunnery Sergeant Snyder was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He enlisted in April 2013 and was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class upon completion of recruit training at MCRD Parris Island. Following Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC, he earned MOS 7242, Air Support Operations Operator, upon graduation from Air Support Operations Operator School at 29 Palms, CA, in December 2013.
Upon completion of Air Support Operations Operator School, PFC Snyder was assigned to Marine Air Support Squadron 2 (MASS-2) in Okinawa, Japan, where he was promoted to Lance Corporal in March 2014. At MASS-2, he supported exercises across the Pacific, including Marine Rotational Force Darwin and exercises Koolendong and Red Dawn in Darwin, Australia, the Korean Marine Exchange Program (KMEP) at Camp Rodriguez, South Korea, and exercise Balikatan at Camp O’Donnell, Philippines.
In May 2016, Corporal Snyder reported to MASS-1 in Cherry Point, NC, and was promoted to Sergeant the following month. In August 2016, Sergeant Snyder joined the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) as the Air Support Element Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge. While deployed with the 24th MEU, he participated in Joint Task Force Matthew, a humanitarian relief effort in Haiti, as well as exercises Alligator Dagger 17 in Djibouti and Eager Lion 17 in Jordan.
In October 2017, Sergeant Snyder returned to MASS-1 and served as Platoon Sergeant, supporting multiple field exercises including Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 3-18. In January 2018, he attended the resident Sergeants' Course, graduating as a distinguished graduate. In August 2018, he completed Martial Arts Instructor Course 218-18, graduating as an honor graduate.
In January 2019, Sergeant Snyder reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, for Drill Instructor School Class 1-19. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, where he served as Drill Instructor, Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival, and Senior Drill Instructor. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in June 2020.
In May 2022, Staff Sergeant Snyder returned to MASS-1 in Cherry Point, NC, where he served as Training Chief, Weapons and Tactics Training Program Chief, and Assistant Operations Chief. During this time, he supported field exercises including Service Level Training Exercise 2-24, Galvanic Thunder 22, and Weapons and Tactics Instructor Courses where he graduated as a student from course 1-24, and Galvanic Thunder 22. In December 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
Gunnery Sergeant Snyder took over as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor at Ohio State University in March 2026.
Gunnery Sergeant Snyder’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (x5) and Good Conduct Medal (x4).
